Trapped in a dungeon below Fort Jay, Zoe broods intensely. The darkness has started to affect her emotional stability. While she appreciates a visit now and then, be wary of approaching Zoe too closely. She may lash out.
Zoe is a projection installation concept originally developed for the Figment Festival in NYC in 2012. Zoe will be an inexpensive volumetric display involving the mapping of projected video into a 3D space containing a carefully positioned matrix of poles. The real time graphics and generative audio will respond to the presence and motion of visitors as detected by a Kinect device.
“Zoe” is the name of a kind of spirit that lives within the space, interacting with those who come to visit. The name is an homage to Zoe Keating, whose ethereal cello music is an inspiration for the audio component of the project.
